A vintage, 1930s, small Japanese lusterware indoor planter or pen/ pencil cup featuring a young boy and his dog on the right hand side of the planter. Planter is styled to looked like a tree trunk. A classic example of 1930s Japanese lusterware!
Signs of wear present throughout piece.
Exact date of production unknown. Circa 1935.
Markings:
- Marked on base, "Made in Japan"
Measurements:
- Height - approx. 4 1/4" inches tall (to top of young boy's head)
- Height of Planter: approx. 2 1/4" inches tall
- Planter Opening: approx. 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" inches, irregular oval shape
- Base Diameter - approx. 3" x 2 1/2" inches, irregular oval shaped base
Condition:
- Signs of wear present throughout piece
- Right hand foot/ shoe chipped on young boy (Please see Photo #4 & #5 for detail shots.)
- Wear to luster finish throughout (Please view Photos #4 thru #10 for detail shots.)
- Small, round white spot on top of young boy's head (Chips present on top of shakers (Please see Photos #5 & #6)
