Q1 Sales Category Breakdown
I like data. I find it helpful for a variety of reasons. Being a creative person, many people might think I wouldn’t like data, but they would be wrong! Tracking data is useful for business purposes, tracking trends, forecasting for the future, and more. Personally, I find it very interesting to see what people are gravitating towards when shopping online and furnishing their homes.
I sell vintage and antique items on Etsy, and currently have items listed in the following 12 categories -
Below is a pie graph illustrating the breakdown by Category for items sold in my Etsy Shop between 1/01/2023 to 3/31/2023.
Books - 6%
Art - 6%
Ceramics - 6%
Lighting - 12%
Dansk Flatware - 35%
Home - 35%
As you can see, 70% of my sales came from two categories - Dansk Flatware and Home. I don’t find it super surprising that the majority of my sales fell into these categories because these are two categories in my Etsy Shop that have a large number of active listings. For example, the Home category has 20 active listings vs. only 3 active listings in the Copper category. Therefore, it makes sense that I would have more sales in a category with a larger number of active listings. Everything is a numbers game!
As I add more active listings to my Etsy Shop, it will be interesting to see if these patterns continue.
