A set of 6 highball drink glasses in a blue and gold paisley pattern. Attributed to Culver Ltd.

Mid-Century Modern highball glasses attributed to Culver Ltd.

What’s not to love about OVER THE TOP barware?

Nothing. That’s what! Culver Ltd., commonly known as “Culver Glass” was one of the masters of over the top, Hollywood Regency barware and accessories during the 1950s thru the 1970s in extravagant 22 karat gold encrusted designs.

Founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 1939, Culver Ltd. began producing high-end, highly decorative glassware and accessories and is still in business today creating new designs and recreating some of their best known mid-century patterns. Today Culver is best known and recognized for their intricate, ornate 22 karat gold encrusted designs. They are fabulous and evoke the feel of a classic, mid-century, Mad Men-style cocktail party in 12 ounces or less!

Finding this set of 6 highball glasses the other week was a treat. They are so bold, vibrant, and fun in their design! This set of 6 highballs/ flat tumblers (each glass holds 12 ounces liquid) feature a vibrant blue background with a gold encrusted paisley pattern. This set is in overall very good condition with light signs of wear with loss/ fading of gilding on the gold detailing. This set is unmarked and why I state “Culver Attributed” in my listing. It appears that it is not uncommon for glasses to not be signed or marked in some manner. From my research, many Culver glasses were sold as a larger bar set featuring an ice bucket, drink pitcher, punch bowl, etc. and these “main” pieces of the set were marked, “Culver”. Detail photos below!

Cheers! Elizabeth
